Wes Hempel is a famous realistic painter; he combines modern concepts and social issues with traditional styles creating magnificent, unexpected and dramatic effects.
Born in El Monte, California, in 1953, Hempel has studied at the University of Colorado in Boulder and at the California State University in Northridge; has been awarded Creative Fellowship in Arts and in Literature by the Colorado Council on the Arts. His works can be found in numerous public and private collections, and publications (among the others, Blue and XY); first solo exhibition in Denver in 1991.
