Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 1962, Terry Smith grew up in a Christian home. Always been involved in social service, at age 16 he started photographing starving horphans in Port Au Prince, Haiti; in 1992, after working for a Baptist Church in Texas, moved with his sister to San Diego working as a volunteer with boys in juvenile probation. In 1996 Terry began taken pictures of models working for a portrait studio. In 2001 he had his first exhibition in a San Diego Starbucks, nine days after the show opened he was forced to take them down.
