nato in Cina, ha studiato alla Accademia d' Arte di Pechino e, dopo il trasferimento negli Stati Uniti nella metà degli anni '80, ha frequentato e insegnato alla University of Georgia, al Athens Art Reasearch Center e al prestigioso Contemporary Museum of Art di New York.
