His sharply focused portraits of young men, friends and lovers, rapidly gained critical attention, more than his bostonian collegues as Nan Goldin and Mark Morrisroe. David Armstrong, born in 1954, (see 7.18.11) has returned with "615 Jefferson Avenue" returns to the subject of his youth. The book gathers 120 portraits of young boys taken in his house in Brooklyn or at his farm in upstate New York during fashion shootings. After "All Day Every Day" (2002) and "The Silver Cord" (1997), it's David Armstrong's first monograph of portraits in ten years; his works have been included in numerous exhibitions and regularly appear in French Vogue, L'Uomo Vogue, Arena Homme+, and GQ. Published by Damiani Editore, available on 7.31.2011, "615 Jefferson Avenue" has 176 pages, 9 x 11 format, hardcover; it costs $45, less in pre-order at Amazon at the end of the page.
