Michael J. Hennessy, born 1968, graduated from Brown University with a degree in International Relations. Although primarily a self-taught artist, he continued taking art courses at New York’s Art Students League, The New School, and The School of the Visual Arts. Currently living and working in Manhattan, Michael is represented in several galleries throughout the United States, from Palm Beach to Beverly Hills. “I believe that sexual expression in oil painting is an expression of freedom. It wasn’t long ago, when an exhibit of overtly sexual subject matter was culturally and indeed legally forbidden. I am most influenced by the beauty that surrounds me in every day life. For me, this beauty is most completely expressed through the human figure. It is the most emotive subject to paint, and it never ceases to draw me in."
