Born in 1960 Hornell, New York, but raised in Buffalo, Joseph Radoccia received a BS in Design from Buffalo State College and a MFA in Painting in 1985. Since the mid-eighties, he has been based in Brooklyn, New York, where his paintings and sculptures began addressing urgent social issues, such as Apartheid and AIDS. He began working with grass roots and national organizations, 
and exhibited in Brooklyn, Provincetown, Atlanta and New Orleans. The artist's work is very much in the narrative tradition of Renaissance painting with a powerful admixture of the erotic spirit of Eastern prints.Since 2001, Joe Radoccia has divided his time between a permanent studio in Brooklyn, New York and one in Antananarivo, Madagascar.
