Representing one of several years-long projects the artist works on simultaneously, Hotel Room Portraits portrays a 13 year documentation of he and his partner's travels around the world. Done in a raw, emotionally stark manner, he has chosen to reveal to us this most intimate, private relationship in the context of the many rooms they have stayed in on their journeys.
Richard Renaldi was born in 1968 and graduated from New York University with a BFA in photography in 1990. Exhibitions of his photographs have been mounted in galleries and museums throughout the United States, Asia, and Europe. This will be Renaldi’s first solo show with the gallery, his work was exhibited in a group show at Wessel + O’Connor almost 20 years ago.
Renaldi's first monograph, Figure and Ground, was published by the Aperture Foundation in 2006. His second monograph, Fall River Boys, was published by Charles Lane Press in 2009. He lives and works in New York City. This exhibition can be seen at the famous Wessel+O'Connor Gallery in Lambertville, New Jersey, November 10 - December 23, 2012.
