Kenya Shimizu is born in 1976 in Fukui Prefecture; he has never been to art school (but is graduated in Russian language), the deeply classic japanese style has made him a name in the erotic art of Japan. Kenya has started to exhibit in 2000, in 2001 has been awarded at the 5th Emerging Erotic Artist Contest by the Tom of Finland Foundation and has been publishing his erotic (often sexually explicit) drawings on gay magazines including "G-men"; drawings which are clearly inspired by the European Art Nouveau style and by japanese artists as Sadao Hasegawa and Go Mishima, the subjects are Samurai warriors, theatrical masks, tattooed men and, of course (we are in Japan), bondage and s/m. His exhibition in England three years ago had a great success, all the works were sold out.
