Born Troy Phillips in Oklahoma City in 1965, he was educated in Counseling Psychology at Oklahoma Christian College and in Japanese and Cross-cultural Communications at Ibaraki Christian College in Hitachi, Japan. Upon graduation, Troy moved to Tokyo and began working as a model and actor while teaching English. Four years of interior design followed before establishing his own web and graphics company, At Beam, Inc. with partner, Akimitsu Sadoi.Fascinated with photography since his teen years, in late 2003 Troy began work on Asian & Masculine: A Body of Work - his debut exhibition. Actually Troy Phillips Photography is a New York City based photography duo of Troy Phillips and Akimitsu Sadoi - shooting fashion, beauty, editorial, portraits and fine art. The Studio's work has been published on DNA, Natural Bodybuilding & Fitness, STAR Magazine, reFRESH, Instinct, Exercise For Men Only, Men's Exercise, M Mensuel, Akut, Blue, G, HX, Yes, Got Game and Bruno Gmunder's anthologies "Turnon: Sports", "Night Visions", "Visions".
