history of male nude photography 146

Walter Kundzicz (see 28.7.2012) recruited many of his models at his Sunshine Beach Club, a famous nudist colony in Florida. His interest in photography emerged at an early age, when he became aware of his homosexuality, and began taking pictures of his brother's friends. Walter was born in 1925 in the Polish district of Newark, New Jersey. His parents emigrated from Canada in early 20's. All his life he would stay on America's East coast. After serving in the Army Air Corps in Europe during World War II, he started a career in architecture. But when he saw the first pictures of male nudes that were beginning to appear in the 40's, by photographers as Lon Hanagan, Al Urban, Bob Mizer and others, he decided to change direction opening his own studio Take One. He immediately had problems with the authorities and the moralist community (as all other photographers of male nudes) and was forced to close. Walter reopened another studio with more prudence and started working only with color photos, became a successful contributor to magazines as Demi Gods, Adonis Young, The Young Physique. He knew that, legally, only naturist publications were allowed to publish nudes, so he went to Florida, founded with his friend, photographer Dick Falcon, the nudist camp Sunshine Beach Club, began working for a series of nudist magazines and then founded his own magazine Big. He founded the same time his Champion Studio.(tuck powell):(noel peters):
