Robert John Guttke studied at Rockford College in Rockford, Illinois; after graduation Robert moved to Minneapolis where he took a job while spending every minute of his free time on his sculptures and drawings to exhibit in local galleries and small shows. It was around this time that he got the opportunity to photograph one of his models, a new path in his artistic career. His first works were published as cards and calendars and collected in a volume titled "Shadow-Light"; in the years to follow, Robert John Guttke’s photography has been published in a number of art magazines around the world.
