history of male nude photography 128

Abandoning the beefcake years.
George Quaintance, better known for his paintings (see 7.24.11) than his photographs, was a featured artist in the early Physique Pictorial magazine (see 11.12.10) until his untimely death in the mid-1950s. Quaintance portrayed several of the popular models he used in his paintings. The work of Southern California photographer Pat Milo (see 5.28.11) is often mistaken for that of other West Coast physique photographers as Dave Martin and Bruce of LA because they often shared the same models. His handsome beefcake photos date from the 1950s and early '60s. (Thanks to BigKugels).
